Thanks for the suggestions Lance. We now have two types of projects: research and process. There is also a free-tagging feature that people can use to give more context if they like.

If it is seen as reasonably successful it could be a good way to approach management and say: ‘Let’s put innovation back on the agenda at ILRI. Not (only) as a cross cutting theme but as a business process to be managed. One part of that is an idea management platform. This is where your new money will be coming from and also how you maintain your edge.’

Why not? ILRI needs a properly integrated Enterprise Social Network to host these conversations.

That can be done, possibly even elegantly 🙂

Hi Nadine, I like this comment. It may have a bearing on my idea “research for the market place”. I think the issue is two fold. Planning our work effectively and understanding and selling our research products effectively.

Can we have a similar virtual format to regularly discuss new papers/studies? it can complement seminars and face-to-face discussions while allowing more people to contribute across space and time

I second Lance’s suggestion of teasing apart substance and process ideas.

Lance: Just to say I agree with both your points. Would be great to review these to see which might be usefully combined.

thanks Lance for these comments. Regarding ‘substance’ and ‘process’, we will discuss it later today.
As for the ideas that look similar, people are encouraged to merge their ideas… and ask people to vote for the new ones!
