I am back to the office now.
As shortly chatted this morning, biogas is very popular in Vietnam and several programs and develop agencies have been supporting biogas. The use of biogas mainly for pig manure. I remember when visiting Daklak with Dr Khanh from TNU, cow manures are sold coffee planters for fertilizers and make good money for cow keepers, and the demand for this is very high…
I suggest that this should be extended to comparing different technology efficiency (biogas, composting, biological bed using EM) from different perspectives for instance economy, health, environment….

Hi Polly,

Are you looking for waste from Cattle or pigs and chicken as well?

agree … let’s first get the seed funding.

Yes, that is the part of plan – desk work!

Here , I tried to be short and more realistic. If there is opportunity the broader objective of this research is actually to consider alternative waste disposal methods of which biogas is one. Others for example include 1. organic manure
2. deep pond
3. Fish feed

In fact, it would seem that there are – in addition to the questions Polly mentions, some questions around how to better ‘target’ biogas as a solution – it is not a silver bullet! Now I am not sure whether to vote or not – I am supporting the idea of this area of research – but not promotion of one technology per se!!!

Anyhow, being for many years in SE Asia, seeing with my own eyes quite a few of projects supporting Biogas in cattle being struggling following the end of seed funding (Northern Thailand, or Java, Yogyakarta special province) we should extend the research idea to any kind of waste management options available in cattle or pigs (including biogas) and also carefully review success and failures.
