  Research focus:

  • Sustainable Intensification (SI): production increased without adverse environmental impact and without the “cultivation” of more land. i.e. efficiency
  • Several ILRI-led projects are researching innovations to support this aim (Africa RISING, ZimCLIFS, LIVES).
  • How can systems evolve to be more productive without compromising sustainability?

  • Is this good science? (Is it important; is it robust; is it relevant; is it in demand)
  • Does it help us reach ILRI strategic objectives?
    • science-based practices that achieve better lives through livestock
    • compelling scientific evidence persuasive for smarter policies and bigger investment
    • increased capacity to better use livestock science and investments for better lives through livestock.
