Iain Wright is a Deputy Director General – Integrated Sciences, previousily he was a Program Leader for Animal Science for Sustainable Productivity, a $15m global program which aims to increase productivity of livestock systems in developing countries through high quality animal science (breeding, nutrition and animal health) and livestock systems research. He was Director of the Theme, People Livestock and the Environment. He is also the Director General’s Representative in Ethiopia and Head of the Addis Ababa campus where over 300 staff are located.
From 2006 to 2011 he was the International Livestock Research Institute’s Regional Representative for Asia, coordinating ILRI’s activities in South Asia, South East Asia and China working with a wide range of public, private and civil society organisations.
Prior to joining ILRI he held a number of posts at the Macaulay Institute, Scotland. He managed a number of research programmes at the Macaulay Institute including the Institute’s research programme on Agro-Ecosystems, which included research on Land Use Change and Land Use Systems and their impacts. From 2003 to 2006 he was Chief Executive of Macaulay Research Consultancy Services Ltd., the Macaulay Institute’s knowledge transfer company.
Iain Wright has a BSc (Agriculture) and PhD in Animal Nutrition. Has 30 years’ experience of conducting and managing research and development.
