Good morning ILRI!! Welcome to day 1 of our 2015 Institute Planning Meeting. This morning we begin with an introduction from Jimmy Smith, followed by a short presentation on ILRI’s goals and science strategy from the DDG-IS, Iain Wright. Iain will also post comments on some of the surprising results from the on-line quiz. You are welcome to post comments on either presentation, including your reflections on just what is “good science”?
We then move into presentations from three of the research programmes: BECA-ILRI Hub; Policy, Trade and Value Chains; and Feeds and Forage. These presentations should stimulate both comments on the content AND some new ideas… (hmmm.. what about chicken that could eat Brachiaria grass and lay 2 eggs rather than 1?… hmmm.. what about a cross-Africa policy that mandated women’s access to 50% of all dairy income….hmmmm…..)… Ok these are a bit weird but you get the point.. ILRI wants IDEAS THAT PAY!! All perspectives and skill sets are needed, so please don’t hold back…. but do keep your comments CONSTRUCTIVE. We are here to collaborate, not compete….
